My Psychosexual Coaching
One Single Session
Single session sex coaching informed -therapy refers to the delivery of therapeutic support in a single meeting rather than across multiple sessions. It is a simple concept that is becoming increasingly significant and relevant in contemporary mental health care. There are many factors to consider in order to maximise outcomes for service users. NHS waiting lists for health services can be inaccessible for many people, and for those able to access them, they are often very long. Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy can also be difficult to access outside of the private sector, where cost and service capacity can present additional barriers.
I am a pharmacist with many years of professional experience, alongside qualifications in Profesional Psychosexual Informed-Therapy, Couples Therapy and Life Health Coaching, I have spent much of my career working directly with individuals and couples through consultations in a wide range of healthcare settings. This extensive experience has provided a deep understanding of the importance of timely intervention, effective communication, and creating a therapeutic space in which people feel heard, supported, and empowered. Working within pharmacy has also offered me unique insight into the overlap between physical health, emotional well-being, medication, relationships, intimacy, and sexual functioning. Across many patient consultations, I have seen how even a single focused conversation can provide reassurance, clarity, direction, and meaningful change.
Single session coaching informed-therapy is not intended as a replacement for full therapeutic interventions or doctor and psychologist consultations when needed ,however it can play an important role in improving access to support for individuals in need. In some cases, a single session may be used on its own for assessment purposes, follow-up support, or as a holding intervention. A positive experience within a single session can also serve as a gateway to engaging in longer-term therapeutic work.

Understanding Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the persistent difficulty in achieving or maintaining an erection suitable for sexual activity. While physical health can play a role, psychological factors are often significant contributors.
Stress, anxiety, performance pressure, low self-confidence, relationship difficulties and past sexual experiences can all affect erectile function. Many men become caught in a cycle where worry about erections increases anxiety, making erections more difficult and reinforcing the problem.
From a psychosexual coaching perspective, the focus is on understanding and addressing the emotional, psychological, and relationship factors that may be affecting sexual confidence and performance. Coaching can help reduce anxiety, improve self-esteem, strengthen communication, and support a more relaxed and satisfying sexual experience.
Persistent erectile difficulties should always be discussed with a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying physical causes. Psychosexual coaching can work alongside medical support to promote overall sexual wellbeing.

Single 2-Hour Psychosexual Coaching Session: Low Sexual Desire
This is a focused, in-depth coaching session designed for individuals or couples experiencing low sexual desire and wanting clarity, direction, and practical support.
Over the course of two hours, we create a safe and confidential space to explore what is happening beneath the surface of your sexual desire. Low libido is rarely a simple issue; it can be influenced by emotional wellbeing, stress, relationship dynamics, body image, past experiences, hormonal factors, lifestyle, and patterns of communication or disconnection.
The session begins with an open conversation about your current experience, including when the changes in desire started, how they show up in your life or relationship, and what you have already tried. From there, we explore possible contributing factors in a non-judgmental and structured way, helping you make sense of what may be impacting your sexual wellbeing.
Alongside exploration, the session is also practical. You will be offered tailored psychoeducation about sexual desire (including how desire naturally fluctuates), as well as strategies to begin shifting unhelpful patterns. This may include tools for reconnecting with your body, improving emotional and relational intimacy, reducing pressure around sex, and rebuilding desire in a way that feels realistic and sustainable.
We will also clarify whether the issue is primarily individual, relational, or a combination of both, and identify clear next steps. These may include exercises to try between sessions, communication tools for partners, or recommendations for ongoing work if deeper exploration is needed.
By the end of the session, the aim is that you feel more understood, less isolated in your experience, and clearer about what is influencing your desire, along with practical ways to begin change.
This session is not about quick fixes or pressure to “perform,” but about building understanding and creating conditions where desire can be more naturally supported over time.
Premature Ejaculation

Premature ejaculation
Premature ejaculation (PE) is a common sexual concern where ejaculation occurs sooner than desired, causing frustration, anxiety, or reduced sexual confidence.
From a psychosexual coaching perspective, PE is often influenced by a combination of emotional, psychological, and behavioural factors, including performance anxiety, stress, low confidence, relationship difficulties, and learned patterns of sexual response.
Psychosexual coaching focuses on helping clients understand these factors and develop practical skills to improve control, reduce anxiety, and build confidence. Coaching may include techniques for managing arousal, improving communication with partners, and creating a more relaxed and enjoyable sexual experience.
Premature ejaculation is common and highly manageable. With the right support, many men experience significant improvements in sexual confidence, satisfaction, and overall well-being.

Anger management
An anger management session from a psychosexual coaching perspective focuses on understanding how anger affects relationships, intimacy, and sexual communication.
It begins with clarifying goals and identifying how anger shows up in the person’s relationship patterns. The focus is on recognising that anger is often a secondary emotion linked to feelings like hurt, fear, rejection, or shame.
The next step is exploring personal triggers and typical responses, such as withdrawal, control, avoidance, or escalation, and how these patterns impact closeness and intimacy.
The session then introduces basic regulation tools, such as breathing techniques, grounding, learning to pause before reacting, and using simple communication phrases to prevent escalation.
Finally, the person applies these ideas to a real-life situation, identifies key insights, and agrees on a small set of practical steps to practice in daily relationships or intimate interactions.
Delayed Ejaculation

Delayed ejaculation
Delayed Ejaculation is a sexual response difficulty where ejaculation is persistently delayed, difficult, or sometimes absent despite adequate arousal and desire.
From a psychosexual coaching perspective, it is understood as a whole-person experience influenced by psychological, relational, behavioural, and sometimes physical factors rather than a simple mechanical issue.
Common contributing factors can include stress, performance anxiety, distraction during sex, emotional disconnection, relationship tension, or learned arousal patterns (such as relying on very specific types of stimulation). In some cases, medication side effects or medical conditions may also play a role.
Coaching focuses on reducing pressure and increasing awareness of arousal patterns, comfort, and connection. Rather than aiming to “force” a result, the work supports clients in shifting attention toward sensation, relaxation, and communication, which often helps the sexual response become more natural and responsive over time.
With support, many people find improved ease, confidence, and sexual satisfaction as pressure decreases and understanding increases.
Performance Anxiety

Performance anxiety
Sexual performance anxiety is a common experience that can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or relationship status. From a psychosexual coaching perspective, it is understood not as a “performance failure,” but as a cycle of pressure, self-monitoring, and anxiety that interferes with natural sexual response.
Sexual intimacy works best when the body feels relaxed and safe. When anxiety arises, the nervous system can shift into a stress response, making it harder to stay present, connected, and responsive. This often leads to increased self-focus during sex—sometimes described as “spectatoring”—where attention moves away from sensation and towards internal evaluation.
A typical cycle may begin with a single difficult experience, such as changes in arousal, erection, lubrication, or orgasm. This can lead to worry about it happening again, which increases tension and makes the issue more likely to repeat. Over time, this creates a self-reinforcing loop of pressure and anxiety.
Contributing factors can include past sexual experiences, cultural expectations about “performance,” relationship pressure, stress, or body image concerns. These influences often shape how a person interprets normal variations in sexual response.
From a psychosexual coaching approach, the focus is on breaking this cycle by reducing pressure, shifting attention back to bodily sensation, and rebuilding confidence through presence rather than performance. As anxiety decreases, sexual response often becomes more natural, responsive, and enjoyable again.

Dyspareunia and vaginismus in women
Dyspareunia refers to persistent or recurring pain during or after sexual activity. Vaginismus involves involuntary tightening of the pelvic floor muscles around the vagina, which can make penetration difficult, painful, or sometimes impossible. From a psychosexual coaching perspective, these experiences are understood as interconnected mind–body responses rather than purely physical conditions.
Both can be influenced by a combination of physical factors (such as pelvic floor tension, hormonal changes, or sensitivity), psychological factors (such as anxiety, fear of pain, or pressure), and emotional or relational factors (such as stress, lack of safety, or past experiences). Often, the body develops a protective response, tightening in anticipation of discomfort or threat.
Over time, a cycle can form where fear of pain increases muscle tension, which then increases pain or difficulty, reinforcing anxiety around intimacy.
Psychosexual coaching focuses on gently supporting the nervous system and body to feel safe again, reducing pressure and performance expectations, improving communication, and helping women gradually reconnect with comfort, control, and ease at their own pace.
Both dyspareunia and vaginismus are not signs of failure, but signals that the body may need care, patience, and a supportive, holistic approach.
Sexual Desire Discrepancy

Sexual desire discrepancy
Sexual desire discrepancy is the term used to describe differences between partners in how often or how strongly they experience sexual desire. From a psychosexual coaching perspective, this is viewed as a normal and common part of relationships rather than a sign of incompatibility or dysfunction.
Desire naturally fluctuates over time and is influenced by many factors, including stress, fatigue, emotional connection, physical health, life transitions, and relationship dynamics. It is also important to recognise that partners may experience desire differently—some more spontaneously, others more in response to closeness, touch, or context
When desire levels differ, misunderstandings can arise. One partner may feel rejected or undesired, while the other may feel pressured or guilty. Without open communication, this can create distance or tension in the relationship.
A coaching approach focuses on curiosity, communication, and emotional safety rather than pressure or blame. By exploring each partner’s experience, couples can better understand what affects desire and how to support connection in ways that work for both people.
Rather than seeing desire discrepancy as a problem to fix, it is better understood as an opportunity to deepen intimacy, improve communication, and build a more flexible and compassionate sexual relationship.
Sexual Compulsivity

Sexual compulsivity
Sexual compulsivity is a term used to describe a pattern where sexual thoughts, urges, or behaviours begin to feel difficult to control and may start to interfere with a person’s wellbeing, relationships, work, or sense of self. From a psychosexual coaching perspective, it is understood less as a “label” or fixed identity and more as a behavioural pattern that often develops in response to underlying emotional, psychological, or relational needs.
People experiencing sexual compulsivity may notice a sense of urgency or tension before engaging in sexual behaviours, followed by temporary relief or escape, and sometimes feelings of regret, shame, or emotional disconnection afterwards. Importantly, the behaviour is often not primarily about sex itself, but about regulation—such as managing stress, loneliness, anxiety, low mood, trauma responses, or unmet attachment needs.
It is also important to distinguish high sexual desire from compulsivity. A strong libido or frequent sexual activity is not inherently problematic. The key difference lies in control and impact: whether the behaviour feels chosen and aligned with personal values, or driven by a sense of “having to” act despite negative consequences.
From a psychosexual coaching standpoint, sexual compulsivity is viewed through a non-pathologising lens. The focus is on curiosity rather than judgement. We explore what function the behaviour serves in the person’s emotional life, and what it may be communicating. For many clients, compulsive patterns are linked to cycles of stress and relief, where sexual behaviour becomes a primary coping strategy for emotional regulation.
Coaching support typically involves helping individuals rebuild awareness of triggers, strengthen impulse regulation, and develop alternative coping strategies that meet the same underlying needs more sustainably. This may include learning to tolerate uncomfortable emotions, improving stress management, addressing shame-based thinking, and reconnecting with embodied awareness so that choice becomes more accessible in the moment of urge.
Relationships can also be affected. Some individuals experience secrecy, emotional withdrawal, or difficulty with intimacy, while partners may feel confusion or betrayal. In a supportive coaching environment, the aim is not blame, but clarity—helping clients understand patterns so they can make informed decisions about change, repair, or boundaries.
Ultimately, sexual compulsivity is best understood as a learned coping pattern rather than a fixed identity. With appropriate support, many people are able to regain a sense of agency, rebuild healthier sexual expression, and develop a more integrated relationship with desire, intimacy, and emotional wellbeing.
Sexual Confidence Coaching

Sexual confidence coaching
From a psychosexual coaching perspective, sexual confidence coaching is a structured, supportive process that helps individuals develop a healthier, more grounded relationship with their sexuality, body, and intimate experiences.
Rather than focusing on performance or "fixing" something that is broken, it works at the level of psychological patterns, emotional safety, and embodied awareness. Many people struggle with sexual confidence not because of a lack of knowledge, but because of anxiety, shame, past experiences, unrealistic expectations, or difficulty being present during intimacy.
A psychosexual coaching approach typically explores how thoughts, beliefs, and early conditioning influence how a person experiences desire, arousal, and connection. For example, someone may intellectually understand intimacy but still feel disconnected, self-conscious, or overly focused on performance during sexual encounters.
Coaching helps identify and gently shift these internal patterns so that intimacy becomes more present, relaxed, and authentic.
A key focus is reducing performance pressure and anxiety loops that interfere with natural sexual response. When people are stuck in self-monitoring ("Am I doing this right?", "Do I look okay?"), the nervous system often shifts into stress mode, which directly impacts arousal and pleasure. Sexual confidence coaching helps clients learn how to regulate this response and return attention to sensation, connection, and communication
It also includes developing communication skills and boundaries in intimacy—being able to express needs, desires, and limits without shame or fear of rejection. This is often as important as any physical aspect of sexual experience.
Importantly, this work is not about teaching "techniques" in isolation, but about supporting a person to feel safe, present, and self-accepting enough that their sexuality can express itself more freely. As confidence grows, clients often report not just improved sexual experiences, but increased self-esteem, better relationships, and a stronger sense of embodiment.
